Papers of the Hibbard, Seaver, and Smith families include genealogies and family correspondence. A letter from David Hibbard comments upon national and Vermont politics and privateering during the War of 1812. Letters from Mary Jane Smith Demming in Missouri to her sister Sarah Ann Smith Hibbard concern family matters, her husband John's piloting of the gunboat Carondelet on the Mississippi River, and the progress of the Civil War. Later letters between Ann Hibbard and her nephew Henry Morse Seaver relate to family history. Other family correspondents are Henry Hibbard, Thomas Hibbard, and John Smith. Also, an account by Susan Hibbard Seaver of a trip with her husband Charles Morse Seaver through the southern states to California in 1903. Includes photograph albums.
